WELLESLEY — Advisory Committee approves $96.8 million Wellesley Public Schools FY27 budget. The level-service budget, a 3 percent increase over FY26, reflects declining district enrollment of 63 students and includes 19.5 FTE reductions generating $1.25 to $1.3 million in salary savings, presented by School Committee Chair Niki Ofenloch and Superintendent David Lussier. Special education in-district programs avoid approximately $17.5 million in out-of-district placement costs and generate $200,000 in tuition revenue from neighboring communities.
The budget includes a $335,000 transportation increase, $26,000 in strategic priorities including PAWS preschool scholarships, and $1.9 million in anticipated federal funding.
