Advisory Committee examines MassBay 40 Oakland Street development warrant articles

Advisory Committee · Meeting of April 22, 2026

WELLESLEY — Advisory Committee hears presentation on MassBay 40 Oakland Street warrant articles. The Select Board, led by Chair Marjorie Freiman, presented non-binding warrant articles for the May 11 Special Town Meeting addressing the proposed development at 40 Oakland Street at MassBay Community College. The board outlined two options: pursue negotiation with the state or fund litigation to challenge the surplus designation.

During citizen speak, Jonathan Ettinger urged opposition to what he called an "utterly misguided" proposal, and Doug Youngen of Friends of Centennial reported over 3,400 petition signatures opposing the development.
