Wellesley Advisory Committee rejects amendment to eliminate Residential Impact Overlay zoning tool. The committee voted 4-8 on April 6 against recommending the amendment, instead advising unfavorable action despite extensive debate. Chair Madison Riley presided as committee member Doug Wilkins made the motion, seconded by Dan Weinger, to amend warrant Article 32.
Discussion highlighted mixed RIO outcomes: Waterstone as a positive example and the Terrazza 40B project that RIO helped prevent, along with concerns about 31-unit-per-acre density limits, senior housing needs, and Planning Board opposition.
