WELLESLEY — Advisory Committee reviews school air conditioning design, library upgrade funding. The committee considered a $1.4 million design-phase appropriation for window-unit air conditioning at four schools, following the School Committee's December selection of the lower-cost Option 3 over full-building VRF ($39 million) and hybrid heat pumps ($31 million). The Library LED Phase 2 project, a $325,000 fixture replacement, was moved to the Fall 2026 Special Town Meeting due to a parking-lot overage.
Finance Director Rachel DeRoche reported FY26 reserves reaching $40 to $41 million, the town's highest level on record, but noted Moody's views this as low compared to nationwide benchmarks.
