Board of Health · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Wellesley Board of Health reviews health department updates and school facilities. Chair Marcia Testa Simonson and Vice Chair Linda Oliver Grape heard from Health Department Director Lenny Izzo on statewide rodent activity increasing in commercial areas, West Nile virus risk elevated to moderate following a positive mosquito sample, and ongoing challenges with lack of central air conditioning in several elementary schools. The board unanimously approved July 30 meeting minutes.

Nurse Supervisor Ann Marie McCauley reported that no residents have been diagnosed with rodent-borne illnesses despite the increase, though tick viruses have been reported in town, and that scheduled flu clinics including one November 4 at the Council on Aging will support fall immunization efforts.
