Climate committee advances solar projects, development engagement

WELLESLEY — The Wellesley Climate Action Committee met February 6 to discuss solar projects and sustainable development engagement. Sustainability Director Dr. Marybeth Martello reported on external funding sources being pursued for the Hardy and Hunnewell solar projects, including Municipal Light Plant WECARE funds, state Climate Leaders grants, federal reimbursements, and school construction funds.
The committee reviewed developer engagement efforts, noting that 26 Washington Street is planning an all-electric building while the developer at 16 Laurel Avenue proposed using natural gas heating. Martello sent a letter to the 16 Laurel Avenue developer discussing all-electric building benefits and available incentives. The committee unanimously approved its January 9 meeting minutes.
