WELLESLEY — Historical Commission approves preservation determination and advances waiver applications with mixed results. At the May 12 meeting, Chair Michael Racette and the full Commission unanimously deemed 14 Heckle Street preferably preserved, imposing a 12-month demolition delay on the 1910-1911 American Foursquare home. Of five waiver applications for new construction, the Commission approved 37 Martin Road (4-3), 63 Donizetti Street (7-0), and 45 Mayo Road (6-1), while continuing 10 Brewster Road, 38 Calvin Road, and 39 Emerson Road to June 8, 2026 for architectural revision.
Concerns centered on roof symmetry, garage scale and prominence, and compatibility with existing neighborhood streetscapes. The Commission unanimously approved the FY27 meeting calendar and discussed reappointment of four members, with Alternate Member Odessa Sanchez seeking elevation to full voting member status.
