Human Resources Board OKs Kathy Savage bonus and new DPW hire

Human Resources Board · Meeting of May 4, 2026

WELLESLEY — Human Resources Board unanimously backs three employment actions and new compensation structure. The board approved a one-week performance award of $1,843.82 for Kathy Savage, who served as Acting Director of the Council on Aging while managing director duties and facing staff shortages and operational challenges, according to COA Board Chair Judy Gertler. The board also unanimously authorized DPW Director David Cohen to hire Edward Olsen as Park and Tree Superintendent at $137,500 annually with five weeks of vacation.

In a third unanimous vote, the board approved Executive Director Meghan Jop's proposal to create a new Level 16 classification for the Facilities Director, Director of Public Works, and potentially the Chief Financial Officer to be presented at a Special Town Meeting, which Jop framed as a sustainable alternative to recurring compensation variances.
