Local Emergency Planning Committee reviews hazmat data, commodity flow findings

Miscellaneous Committees · Meeting of May 5, 2026

WELLESLEY — Local Emergency Planning Committee approves prior minutes and reviews hazmat data. Tier II reports show six facilities in Wellesley reporting 29 hazardous chemicals entered into the CAMEO database. Consultant Mike Castro presented a commodity flow study across eight town traffic locations indicating multiple classes of chemicals are transported through Wellesley daily, consistent with federal trends.

The committee discussed potential tabletop exercise walkthroughs as a precursor to a full exercise, while the Hazardous Materials Plan remains in progress for further review at the next meeting.
