Natural Resources Commission approves annual town meeting report, plans feasibility-to-design transition for Morses Pond Beach project

WELLESLEY — Natural Resources Commission approves 2026 town meeting report, moves Morses Pond Beach toward design phase. The Commission agreed to transition the 8 million dollar Morses Pond Beach project from feasibility study into design phase at its February 24th meeting, pending formal confirmation that the project meets Article 97 requirements and does not constitute a change of use. The Community Preservation Committee indicated willingness to fund 6 million dollars of the project cost, with the town expected to cover the remaining 2 million dollars before the March 18th CPC vote.
Director Brandon Schmitt presented designs for the Phillips Park playground renovation using engineered wood fiber surfacing, which the Commission unanimously approved.
