WELLESLEY — Natural Resources Commission approves Morses Pond Beach Project feasibility study as Article 97 compliant. NRC Director Brandon Schmitt reported the Community Preservation Committee willing to increase funding from five million dollars to six million dollars, with the Project Building Committee already drafting a design contract. The Commission unanimously approved an expanded amplified sound permit for Wellesley Youth Softball at Diane Warren Field, adding Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday games (6:00 PM to 9:15 PM) to ensure every girl experiences at least one amplified game per season.
A request to install a permanent four-speaker sound system at Diane Warren Field was deferred; Commissioner D'Ortenzio cited Massachusetts prevailing wage law concerns, noting projects above ten thousand dollars require Central Register advertising and likely exceed applicable wage schedules, and Director Schmitt raised unresolved questions about town acceptance, procurement, and multi-use field access rights for other organizations.
