Planning Board votes to restrict RIO bylaw; board member Woodward departs

WELLESLEY — Planning Board restricts RIO bylaw for Town Meeting warrant article. The board voted 3-1 to remove single family and three other specified zoning districts from the Residential Incentive Overlay while dropping development agreement language, following a joint meeting with the RIO Task Force where Chair Marc Charney and Vice Chair Thomas Taylor presented competing proposals. The Task Force voted 9-4 to eliminate RIO entirely from all districts, but the Planning Board chose the narrower option after members including Secretary Patricia Mallett expressed concern about losing RIO as a planning tool.
The board also continued a 19-unit multifamily project at 592 Washington Street pending departmental review and granted a photometric study waiver for 48 Livermore Road.
