School Committee awards five-year specialized van contract to Kabs4Kids

School Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Wellesley School Committee unanimously awards five-year specialized van contract to Kabs4Kids. Cindy Mahr, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, recommended the vendor as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder among four proposals. The vote passed 4-0.

The committee also assigned Costas Panagopoulos as liaison to the Special Education Parent Advisory Council and Niki Ofenloch to the Town Wide Capital Planning Committee, both unanimously. A comprehensive enrollment study presented by Tracey Healy of FutureThink revealed kindergarten is the most volatile class to project due to long lead times between births and school enrollment, while elementary enrollment declines over the past decade are leveling off and may increase in coming years.
