WELLESLEY — School Committee hears but defers on air conditioning acceleration. Two residents urged the School Committee to fast-track window air conditioning at four Wellesley schools, with a citizen petition proposing summer 2027 completion versus the district's 2028 timeline. Superintendent David Lussier and Director of Facilities Management Joe McDonough presented staff analysis concluding the accelerated timeline is not feasible due to electrical infrastructure requirements and permitting processes.
The district approved $182,000 in 2025 for an air conditioning feasibility study. The committee will vote on air conditioning prioritization and four other capital projects September 8.
