Select Board approves special counsel for trash disposal consortium negotiations

WELLESLEY — Select Board approves $5,000 for trash consortium legal services. Chair Marjorie Freiman, Executive Director Meghan Jop, and RDF Superintendent Jamie Manzolini detailed the town's participation in the Central Massachusetts Municipal Solid Waste Consortium, a 30-to-35-municipality coalition negotiating a collective trash disposal contract before Wellesley's current agreement expires at end of fiscal 2027; legal costs will be shared proportionally, with the town's expense expected below the $5,000 cap. The board also announced a $1,000,000 Green Communities Decarbonization Accelerator grant for solar installations at Hunnewell and Hardy Elementary Schools, approved three consent agenda items unanimously, and retained current officers for another year after Vice Chair Tom Ulfelder's nomination passed 5-0.
