WELLESLEY — Select Board prepares three motions for Oakland Street land vote. At its April 23 meeting, the board discussed competing approaches for the May 11 Special Town Meeting vote on the sale and development of state-owned land at 40 Oakland Street. Board member Kenneth Largess proposed a two-motion framework starting with a yes-or-no vote on the State's proposal, then offering a second motion with seven specific conditions if the first fails.
Board member Beth Sullivan Woods proposed a survey-based approach with granular questions on unit count, affordability, traffic mitigation, and development terms. Town Counsel Tom Harrington presented a framework granting the board negotiating authority. Board members agreed to refine motion language at the next meeting, set for April 27, 2026.
