Select Board Policy Subcommittee continues review of municipal policies
Select Board · Meeting of April 23, 2026
Wellesley Select Board Policy Subcommittee advanced four draft municipal policies. Kenneth Largess and Colette Aufranc, Secretary, approved February 26 minutes and directed staff to bring the Naming of Public Assets Policy for first read before the full Select Board after May 11. The subcommittee reviewed the Abutter Lot Sales Policy, modeled on programs in Littleton and Springfield, noting that parcels valued at $35,000 or less avoid mandatory competitive bidding; members agreed language should preserve the Select Board's discretion to accept competing or higher offers.
The committee addressed a draft Denial of Permits for Unpaid Taxes policy and an Indemnification Policy requiring minor clarifications before moving to the full board. Discussion of the Building Use Policy focused initially on the Tolles-Parsons Center, with phased implementation across other Select Board-controlled facilities, and members emphasized compliance with federal tax-exempt bond use restrictions.
