Playing Field Task Force · Meeting of October 9, 2026

WELLESLEY — The Wellesley Playing Field Task Force approved two field-use permits 7-1 and heard Little League push back on a Celebrations Committee plan for a Wonderful Weekend helicopter ride. Little League representative Ann said Kelley Field hosts "four fields that we use all day long" on Saturdays, forcing the committee to look elsewhere, with the old Harvard Pilgrim lot near Route 128 floated as one option. The task force also learned the School Committee voted unanimously on September 22 to approve a long-delayed Sprague Field scoreboard, with a community forum set for October 28 and the Diamond Club still raising money toward a $50,000 fundraising target.

The meeting closed with tributes to retiring Athletic Director John Brown, who called it "a great run for me at the high school and the middle school level athletics in the town."
