Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of October 13, 2026

Wellesley library trustees banned scooters and bikes from all branches and kept printing fees in place. The Board of Library Trustees voted unanimously to amend patron conduct rules for the main library and the branches, barring "bicycles, scooters, other recreational micro-mobility devices" from being brought inside, with Trustee Diane saying the rule "will be strictly enforced to ensure patron safety." Branch libraries also now bar food and uncovered beverages. Library Director Jamie reported more than 120 applications for an open circulation position amid two staff resignations.

Trustees reviewed a flat fiscal 2028 capital budget request, due to the town November 20, and previewed an Annual Action Plan that includes piloting a state AI platform and adding a children's-room robot. The board also marked the completed, privately funded restoration of the Hills Branch, closed since June and reopened October 8.
