Wellesley Municipal Light Board recognizes Diamond Award for Safety achievement.

Municipal Light Board · Meeting of February 27, 2026

Wellesley Municipal Light Board unanimously recognized the utility's American Public Power Association Diamond Award for Safety for 2025, the highest level in APPA's Safety Awards of Excellence program. Director David Wood reported the organization achieved the recognition based on low OSHA incident rates, strong safety programs, and top-tier safety culture. The Board also discussed expanding the WeCare policy, which accumulates funds faster than current spending; management will develop a list of potential solar, heat pump, battery, electric vehicle, and community decarbonization projects for future investment.

Wood noted the organization's financial position remains stable with strong sales and good cash reserves, with updated financials targeted for March presentation.
