High school track and field building nears completion, DPW says
Wellesley's Board of Public Works, meeting Oct. 20, reported that construction at the Wellesley High School Track and Field building is nearing completion, with builder Triumph expected to wrap up in about a month.

DPW Director Dave Cohen told the Board of Public Works on Oct. 20 that crews spent much of the summer working on the pre-manufactured building at the Wellesley High School Track and Field site. Cohen said the project "kind of lingered" but that builder Triumph is "at it every day" and the department is "hoping to finish that up in about a month's time." He said the timeline may be "a bit late for the football season," but that he toured the facility recently with the athletic department, which was "pretty happy with what they see," even though the site is "a bit constrained for space."
Separately, the board voted to award a $158,000 contract to Ray Contracting for playground installation and site work at Phillips Park, located between Magus and Seaward avenues. The town received six bids ranging from $158,000 to $180,000, with assistant town engineer George Saraceno recommending Ray, which recently completed another town playground project. Work includes demolition and installation of a wood-fiber-chip surface, and officials said the contractor is expected to begin soon and complete the job in six to eight weeks. The board also noted recent completion of the Warren Playground project.
