Natural Resources Commission reviews Morses Pond design at 50 percent schematic

WELLESLEY — May 28, 2026 — Wellesley NRC reviews 50-percent schematic design for Morses Pond beach overhaul. Recreation Director Ainsley Martin urged commissioners not to treat the project as a bathhouse swap, saying it is meant "to reinvigorate the whole area" around the town's drinking-water source. The design team presented asphalt pathways, engineered wood fiber playground surfacing, retaining seat walls, and a fully accessible route to the docks, with the existing pavilion retained and a new one added. Arborist Hartney Greymont rated trees across the site; four flagged for removal are in good health, prompting pushback from members. A contemplated NRC–DPW land swap remains unapproved by the legislature, attorney general and MWRA. No votes were taken.
