Wellesley NRC Unanimously Reappoints Trails Volunteers, Adds Wetlands Member

WELLESLEY — July 21, 2026 — Wellesley Natural Resources Commission reappoints trails volunteers and names wetlands member in unanimous votes. The commission voted 5-0 Tuesday to reappoint the full existing trails committee slate for a one-year term and to seat returning member Doug Hirsch on the Wetlands Protection Committee for a three-year term through June 30, 2029; Director Brandon Schmidt noted the committee still has one full-member vacancy and two associate vacancies. The board also unanimously approved Schmidt's FY26 performance evaluation, which Park described as recognizing Schmidt's role in securing a $500,000 federal earmark through the Charles River Watershed Authority for tree canopy and stormwater improvements — "a huge win," Park said. Secretary Joe Schott reported that the Permanent Building Committee voted 3-1 to pursue a gable roof on the Morse's Pond Beach and Bath House over the NRC's preferred shed design, with pricing expected at the PBC's August 13 meeting. The commission canceled its August 6 and August 20 meetings in favor of a single Zoom session on August 10.
