Wellesley Advisory Committee reviews four warrant articles for March Town Meeting. The Committee heard presentations from Brad Downey, Interim Planning Director, and Planning Board Vice Chair Tom Taylor on a $400,000 comprehensive plan update requiring 18 months to two years of consultant-led community engagement. The Committee discussed a proposed amendment restricting the Residential Incentive Overlay district to non-residential areas; Planning Board member Jim Roberti opposed the proposal, characterizing the Task Force process as rushed and incomplete and advocating deferral to 2027 or 2028.
Advisory members raised concerns that the amendment does not prevent developers from seeking rezoning and fails to address equity implications for seniors requiring accessible housing. Stephen Murphy, Chair of the Community Preservation Committee, presented $2,554,000 in FY25 revenues, with Reed's Pond and Duck Pond dredging projects expected at Town Meeting.
