Housing Board Votes to Seek New Management Firm

Housing Authority · Meeting of September 17, 2026

Wellesley Housing Authority chooses a managing-agent search over an in-house executive director. The Board of Commissioners voted 3-1-1 Thursday to seek proposals from outside housing agencies after Cambridge Housing Authority's management contract ends October 31, then voted unanimously to authorize Chairperson Maura Renzella and Deputy Executive Director James Sullivan to pursue agreements directly, targeting a new manager by November 1. Treasurer Lisa Heyison said "I have to go with the management agreement," citing two prior failed executive-director searches.

The board also voted unanimously to seek up to $500,000 from the town's Community Preservation Committee for security cameras and intercoms, against a $453,658 cost estimate, and approved $159,552.68 in bill payments plus a $3,381 tenant bad-debt write-off.
