Planning Board approves $306,007 bank housing payment
Planning Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Wellesley Planning Board unanimously approves $306,007 affordable-housing payment for a First Citizens Bank project. The board voted 5-0 to finalize the inclusionary zoning special permit for 26 Washington Street after Vice Chair Thomas Taylor flagged that the Wellesley Affordable Housing Trust had used a "mean" rather than the bylaw's required "median" calculation, a discrepancy members pegged at roughly $1,000 to $2,000. Kimley-Horn's Seth Anderson and First Citizens Bank's Susan Bishop said the bank was "in agreeance" with the trust's figure and declined to seek a continuance.
Separately, Member James Roberti pressed Planning Director Robert Chilla over town counsel's reversal on lot-coverage rules for a 10 Railroad Avenue MBTA Communities Act project, warning the flip could affect "all future" MBTA projects: "When you give us advice, it better stick." The board also previewed a possible October 19 zoning petition for 888 Worcester Street.
