Planning Board flags parking loss on Railroad Street
Planning Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Wellesley Planning Board presses ZBA to address parking loss at 10 Railroad Street. The board, chaired by Marc Charney, unanimously approved a $9,790 bond release for repaving at 102 Evergreen Avenue and continued an inclusionary zoning permit for 26 Washington Street to September 28. Most of the meeting focused on an eight-unit MBTA Communities Act townhouse project at 10 Railroad Street that would eliminate 47 parking spaces relied on by tenants of neighboring 151 Linden Street.
Attorney David Himmelberger, representing the applicant, said there is "nothing in the zoning bylaw" tying the properties together, while abutter representative Stanley Brooks called the parking loss an "extraordinary adverse impact." Member James Roberti cautioned the board against conditioning the project so heavily it becomes unbuildable. Staff will forward revised comments to the Zoning Board of Appeals ahead of its September 24 hearing.
