Wellesley Climate Panel Approves Minutes 7-0
Climate Action Committee · Meeting of September 4, 2026
Wellesley's Climate Action Committee approved two sets of minutes 7-0 and heard the Municipal Light Plant has raised its residential solar rebate cap from $12,000 to $15,000 and added a first-ever $30,000 large-commercial rebate. New Sustainability Program Coordinator Rebecca Manley said the MLP is also expanding net metering eligibility to 20-kilowatt systems and planning two DC fast chargers near Route 9 using $200,000 in fiscal 2027 WeCare funds. Schools liaison Niki Ofenloch said the district will seek roughly $1.4 million in design funding for air conditioning and a Special Town Meeting article extending bus contracts from five to 10 years.
Member Kenneth Largess proposed a cost-benefit framework for future committee bylaw proposals; Martha Collins countered that "there are some things you do because you know you must do them," and no vote was taken on the idea.
