Wellesley Free Library parking lot construction begins, libraries closed for July 4 weekend

Thursday, July 2 — The Wellesley Municipal Light Plant issued a Peak Alert for July 2, urging residents to reduce electricity demand during the heat event. Thursday, July 2 — Construction is now underway on the Wellesley Free Library main branch parking lot, a project running through September 2026 that includes repaving and repairs. Thursday, July 2 — The Massachusetts Attorney General's Office has approved an amendment to Wellesley's Flood Plain or Watershed Protection zoning bylaw. Friday, July 3 – Sunday, July 5 — All three Wellesley Free Library branches — Main, Hills, and Fells — will be closed Thursday through Sunday for the Independence Day holiday weekend. The next scheduled programming at the Main Library resumes Tuesday, July 7, with Adult Craft To-Go Kits available all day and a "Listening to New England with Mel Allen" talk in the Wakelin Room from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 7 — The Wellesley Free Library resumes its summer program schedule after the holiday closure. Highlights include Storytime at the Main Library at 10:30 a.m. and the "Listening to New England with Mel Allen" evening talk at 7 p.m. in the Wakelin Room.

Tuesday, July 14 — The library's "The Women of '76 with Rita Parisi," a one-woman theatrical performance bringing to life true stories of women who played key roles during the American Revolution, is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Wakelin Room at the Main Library.
