Wellesley Library Unveils Fall Lineup of Concerts, Lectures
Wellesley Free Library unveiled a fall season of concerts and lectures this week, with five new programs running from Sept. 8 through Sept. 22, including a Charles River Sinfonietta performance and talks on Dante and the American Revolution.
SCHOOLS
The School Committee's plan to bring air conditioning to four Wellesley schools moved a step closer this week. The district says it will request design funds at the fall Special Town Meeting, building on the committee's unanimous May vote to upgrade electrical systems and install window units at Wellesley Middle School and the Bates, Fiske and Schofield elementary schools.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Wellesley Free Library's fall calendar is filling out with new adult and teen programming. The Charles River Sinfonietta performs in the Wakelin Room on Sept. 13, followed by a lecture, "Dante in 75 Minutes: Why the Divine Comedy Still Matters," on Sept. 16, and "The American Revolution and the Fate of the World" on Sept. 22. The library will also host "Massachusetts: The Library State" on Sept. 10, and teens get their own evening with "Welcome to the Graveyard!" on Sept. 8.
Closer to home, families can catch the library's Off to School Celebration for kids on Aug. 28, part of a run of Secret Codes & AI Detectives sessions for tweens and children this week.
