Wetlands Protection Committee · Meeting of October 22, 2026

WELLESLEY — The Wellesley Wetlands Protection Committee continued review of a 24-unit Walnut Street apartment project after its peer reviewer could not confirm a proposed stormwater filter meets town standards. Project engineer Chi told the committee the "focal point" phosphorus media has not been approved by Massachusetts in roughly 20 years, with other states reporting removal rates "ranging from anywhere between 30 to 60%." Member Doug Hersh asked whether even a 30 percent rate might outperform 50 percent at a typical parking lot. Town meeting member Kara Reinhardt-Block warned of truck traffic on the site's "500-foot-long driveway" near a center for adults with special needs.

The committee, chaired by Eleanor McLane, separately voted 3-0 to approve an order of conditions and a buffer-zone waiver for a Worcester Road multi-unit housing project.
