Light Board defers budget decisions, schedules May 27 follow-up
WELLESLEY -- May 20, 2026, Wellesley Municipal Light Board takes no votes, points to May 27 for budget discussion. Members described the utility as "capital heavy" for the next several years as reliability-driven infrastructure work continues, including roughly $300,000 in underground cable replacement whose old reels are sold to a salvage yard intact rather than scrapped. The board reviewed limited storm damage from the prior day, "two things on the skyline", and asked whether the town's battery storage system had captured the monthly peak; staff said a fault condition left the battery only partially deployed and that month-end data would settle the question. Members deferred setting a June meeting date, opting for an email poll after the chair consults a staff member identified only as Dave.
