Wellesley HDC Approves Window Replacement at 58 Cottage Street, Reelects Officers

WELLESLEY — July 7, 2026 — Wellesley Historic District Commission approves Marvin window replacement at 58 Cottage Street and reelects its officers 4-0. The commission, meeting by Zoom on July 7 with four of six members present, granted a Certificate of Appropriateness for a full replacement of the existing wooden double-hung sash and storm windows with Marvin Ultimate aluminum-clad, wood-interior windows in a stone-white matte finish with permanently adhered simulated divided lights; the windows will match those on a previously approved ADU garage on the property. Abutter Benedict Daly raised concerns during public comment about a potential property-line encroachment related to the ADU driveway on Wildwood Circle, which Chair David Smith referred to zoning officer Michael Grant at the building department as outside the HDC's purview. Architect Charles Krause clarified that a side entry door shown on plans as potentially crossing the neighbor's line had already been repositioned but that the drawings had not yet been updated. The commission also voted 4-0 to re-elect Smith as Chair, Meredith Angjeli as Vice Chair, and Thomas Paine as Secretary for fiscal year 2027, and approved the June 2 meeting minutes 3-0 with one abstention.
