Wellesley panel OKs two house expansions, four signs

Design Review Board · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Wellesley Design Review Board clears two house expansions and four signs in one session. Chair Juann Khoory, Vice Chair Iris Lin and member Sheila Dinsmoor, the only voting members present, approved a 15 Wall Street roof raise and rear addition and a new 77 Arnold Road colonial after landscape architect Mike Kutuf said roughly 71 trees, mostly dying hemlocks, need removal and the home will run on geothermal heat rather than heat pumps. The board also required a Glowbar awning sign at 94 Central Street be shrunk from 16 to 12 inches, sent a St.

Paul Catholic Church sign back for wider, cap-free granite posts, and approved illuminated bronze address numbers for two Washington Street office buildings after members said early renderings looked "orange" rather than bronze. Lin reminded one applicant that a working surface over 30 inches above grade needs 42 inches of fall protection, not the 36 inches first proposed for a Lathrop Road pavilion wall near a protected oak.
