Bylaw Review Committee · Meeting of September 3, 2026

WELLESLEY — The Wellesley Bylaw Review Committee voted to consolidate three bylaw articles restating the Open Meeting Law into one. Chair Kenneth Largess III and members Andrea Ward, Marjorie R. Freiman and Michael D'Ortenzio, Jr. voted 4-0 to approve, in substance, a draft warrant article merging Articles 2, 2A and 3 into a new Article 2 for the Fall 2026 Special Town Meeting, ahead of a September 8 warrant-signing deadline.

D'Ortenzio said deleting the restated law "would have no legal effect whatsoever, except for the video recording provision." Members Katherine L. Babson, Jr. and K.C. Kato raised concerns about removing text that reminds board members of their open-meeting obligations.

The committee also voted 4-0 to approve its July 27 and August 24, 2026 minutes. Largess said he expects a finalized draft by September 9.
