Permanent Building Committee · Meeting of September 24, 2026

Wellesley's Permanent Building Committee approved roughly $574,000 in contractor payments and reviewed a plan to fast-track AC at two schools. Chair Michael Tauer told members he briefed the School Committee on a "technically feasible pathway" to install air conditioning at Fisk and Bates next summer, with a proposed two-motion Town Meeting strategy still being refined with town counsel. Members voted 3-0 on five separate items, including an $84,873 Consigli payment for Town Hall, a $269,067.55 CDI requisition for the DPW facility, and an $89,316.51 Tower Construction change order for Warren School.

Member Thomas Goemaat questioned a $7,794.12 billing gap on the Town Hall payment and pressed on contractor "scheduled values," while Tauer cautioned against floating rough cost estimates for the AC project: "People are going to latch on to those numbers." The Advisory Committee is set to hear the AC proposal September 30.
