WELLESLEY — Select Board retreat charts town-wide facilities planning and capital priorities. Marjorie Freiman, chair, led the full board through a detailed review of fiscal 2026 work plan items and advancing priorities including establishment of a town-wide facilities master plan encompassing the fire station, Department of Public Works, and schools, estimated to cost approximately $200,000 for a school facilities assessment alone. The board noted that multiple major debt exclusion campaigns for fire, schools air conditioning and preschool, and DPW facility improvements are currently clustered in overlapping years, creating logistical and financial strain, and discussed alternatives such as using Free Cash for design phases contingent upon referendum approval before committing full construction borrowing authority.
