Board of Health · Meeting of October 13, 2026
WELLESLEY — The Wellesley Board of Health began drafting a memo on the health effects of planned school window air conditioners ahead of the Nov. 9 Special Town Meeting. Member Susie Eklund told the board the window-unit option carries an estimated $16.8 million cost versus roughly $39 million for a full-building system, and cited Massachusetts guidance recommending 70 to 78 degrees and 40 to 60 percent humidity in public buildings. Vice Chair Linda Oliver Grape separately proposed adding a mental health staff position in the fiscal 2027 budget, saying "it's reasonable for us to think about putting in additional FTE." Public Health Nurse Anne-Marie reported only 14 people registered for the town's public flu clinic, down from historical turnout of "many hundreds," attributing the drop partly to CVS competition.
The board approved its Sept. 15 minutes unanimously and moved its next meeting to Oct. 17.
