WELLESLEY — The Wellesley Bylaw Review Committee voted 6-0 to adopt its final rules and regulations and settled on a scaled-back first package for the Fall 2026 Special Town Meeting. Chair Kenneth Largess III led the hybrid session, where members Katherine "Gig" Babson Jr., Michael D'Ortenzio Jr., Marjorie Freiman, Andrea Ward and Kristin Whelton joined him in the 6-0 roll-call vote. The committee settled on Articles 1 through 4 and Article 7 as its trial package, deferring Articles 5 and 6 over embedded conflict-of-interest language.
Town Moderator Mark Kaplan said presenting too much at once would risk "losing people," while D'Ortenzio said a commercial codification platform like eCode could cost "$15,000 to $20,000" up front. Members must submit comments by August 7 ahead of an August 24 meeting.
