Permanent Building Committee · Meeting of August 13, 2026

WELLESLEY — The Wellesley Permanent Building Committee gave informal approval to advance Morses Pond's beach and bathhouse redesign into design development. Project manager Amanda Goss and architect Zach Cardwell of Marian Thompson Architects presented a 100 percent schematic design running about $13,000 under the project's feasibility estimate, featuring an accessible playground, relocated shade structure and new bathhouse. Member Suzanne Littlefield warned an accessible lawn path could become "a cow path" if shortcuts form, while member Matt King pressed on solar-ready roof penetrations and utility routing.

Separately, Chair Michael Tauer and Vice Chair Thomas Goemaat debated a contractor's solar-project schedule against a December 2027 tax credit deadline, with liquidated damages set at $1,000 a day. The committee also approved July 23 minutes 4-0 with one abstention and approved invoices totaling $57,655 to SOCA Tech and Weston and Sampson, 5-0.
