Wellesley Housing Authority approves three-year Cambridge management agreement

WELLESLEY -- August 21, 2025, Wellesley Housing Authority hires Cambridge as outside manager after repeated director turnover. The board voted Aug. 21 to enter a three-year management agreement with the Cambridge Housing Authority, with a Sept. 15 start date and a 60-day exit clause for either side. The state boilerplate contract caps executive director compensation drawn from the fee at $36,633, about 30 percent of the $122,210 annual management charge. Members Maureen Zella, Judith Godorn and Renee Spencer approved the deal; absent member Lisa Hyacinth emailed her support. The board called current Executive Director James Sullivan "truly an essential worker" but said losing leaders "every two to three years" to Norwood, Attleboro and Watertown had become untenable. Staff also outlined a Waldo Court pilot replacing a tub with a walk-in shower and disclosed that Verizon-served properties are ineligible for an MBI broadband retrofit program.
